Well took my daughter and father in law to the Pend Orielle River on saturday. Aside form the massive thunder storm that came in and completly soaked us it was a good. The first fish of the day was my daughters 30" Pike that weighed just over nine pounds. Then we had two more smaller ones and also landed 12 smallmouth and one largemouth. All in all it was a good day.

Nice looking Pike, good to see the Bass are starting to get active. Did you happen to release the Pike? Congrats on the great day of fishing...

...you know he didn't....he's at the launch.....you just want him to say he didn't so that you can say something like....it would be nice and or appropriate if we want to see this fishery really take off as a large fish fishery ,,,, to release the fish that are over 27 inches(ish) so that in the future we can all catch nice 37+ inch fish .... but, great job fishin ....what where the smallies biting on?

yeah, I believe him if he said he did than he probably did ..... it just looked like he was done fishing and also I noticed that he had a picture of a fish while on the water which in my overly analytical brain raises the question of why not taking a picture on the boat....the rebuttal to this is that he went back for the camera and or that he took that pic at the dock and or after getting the camera for the pike ...either way its all legit and i wish I could have gotten some smallies too ....all I got was a ton of 1-1.5 lb largemouth on a little lake i went to and was kicking myself for not going to the P.O. ..... fish envy .....great job to you guys

Wow that is a lot of over thinking about whether i did or didnt release a fish. I like the chatter though, however the truth of the matter is that the smallmouth pic was taken quickly with my camera on my phone and then released as i had no intention of keeping any bass. That just happened to be the biggest one hence the picture. The Pike was caught by my daughter and she wanted to keep it originally which is why my livewell now stinks of Pike slime. Once we got back to the launch ramp she changed her mind, a picture was taken and the pike released unharmed. Good, glad thats settled, now lets get back to fishin

Bass glad to hear she changed her mind and wanted to put it back.. I'm glad i asked since I would have concluded it didnt make it back in the river either, thats why I asked.. Wow Black dont you like the idea of the PO River becoming a trophy fishery, cause i think alot of people around here do. Its all about educating people who dont fish the river alot..Dont remember education being a negative thing....

hey Yank : ) ..... LOL ..... yeah, I do wanna see more big fish, ha ha education is great.... like learning to fillet the Y bones in hammer handles....that would be some education many people could use.... and yes I too practice C&R... unless its frying pan sized then I practice my cook'n skills ....

Black glad to hear that. I have lots of fillets in the freezer too lol... Theres a no wake rule on the PO River as of today so let everyone know it'll be that way they figure for the next couple weeks...Its a $66 fine if your caught producing a wake on the river now till the water drops below 40-41 ft
