Well, I made the trip up to the cascade to make it up at first light. I love it up there, it's the middle of nowhere. The cascade was running high, with a little color to it, but about 6 or 7 feet of visibility. First thing the guy down from me caught a little wild jack on a spinner. It was really slow after that.
I worked my way downstream from the hatchery, and there was not very much river to fish at all. No holding water, and very few fish moving up. One guy got a nice sized wild fish. Other than that nothing.
At the farthest hole I could wade to I hooked into a nice sized fish, a real beauty. But there was a tree lying down the middle of the whole, a fresh fall with branches everywhere. Of course it was a gamble to even fish the hole in the first place. And of course the fish managed to get itself unhooked by swimming under it and getting a little leverage. He was stuck for about a minute, and then he popped off.
Tried down at the mouth and then called it a day. I guess they've got about 600 fish up at the hatchery, they haven't updated the hatchery reports yet. But the fish just shoot up and don't hold in the river any more. All the holding water blew out. Really wish they'd bolt some trees down to build some holes like they do at Tokul, because it's not really worth fishing if the fish don't hold there.
