Went to the skagit around Mt Vernon, Drifted from Gardener Launch down to Mt Vernon. This report is for 2 different days, mixed into one. Drifted/slow reeled pink dick nites, the middle size and hooked 18, and landed 8 between me and my buddy on day one, and hooked 7 and landed 4 on day 2. Theyre comin in!! And they are Massive. I almost got spooled on my steelhead rod that ended up being a 7.4 pound buck pinky, and another we landed was 8.1 pounds. Super good fights on these huge chrome fish in the skagit. 2 Weeks from now is gonna be crazy. Thought both the big ones wwere gonnna be silvers, they swam from 50 yards like a torpedo along the surface! When the bite is on, the pink dick nites are a lot of fun.

is the Gardner launch on the north side of the river, at the end of (duh) Gardner road? Are the fish holding in spots or scattered as you drifted down?

Yea you drive down cook road once you get off I-5, take a right and go ALL the way to the end of gardner road. The river is still running high, so they are scattered and MOVING, not holding like they will be later in the year. Find some resting fish, usually show themselves by rolling, and fish that area because they are not in every drift yet.

gardener launch is likely the best launch on the river, a nice wide cement launch and can fit any boat u can run on the river
