My dad and I fished Erie Lake on opening day. After reading the Seattle Times article about good prospects for opening day we decided on this lake rather than making our traditional long drive to Jameson Lake. Since this was our first time fishing this lake, I made sure to read the posts on this web page (very helpful posts) to know what to expect. The boat launch area is rather small and cramped. There were a lot of people launching and retrieving boats in the morning, but everyone seemed patient and seemed to be enjoying being out fishing. We limited in one hour, and would have limited sooner if my dad had not had one get off a few feet from the boat. All of the fish were between 11 and 12 1/4 inches in size and they fought very well. We used a few different colors of Powerbait. I didn't even have a chance to get out the worms I brought. I think we'll be back next year to Erie Lake for opening day.
