Had a good time on the Puyallup today. Not crazy action yet, but really good none-the-less. Probably released 20-25 pinks, most in the 4-5 pound range. Kept a 4 pound buck right before I left and BBQ'd it for dinner. (yes, pinks taste great on the BBQ as long as you take care of the fish and grill it right away)
Now, I'm a fan of spoons and jigs but today I was one of the umpteen-million people on the river running corkies and yarn. I want to write an honest report here, so I'll just admit that probably 2/3 of the fish I landed were flossed. Was I trying to do this? No. But let's be honest and just admit that if you're running a leader greater than 2 or 3 feet and corkies, then it really doesn't matter too darn much what color rig you've got set up, the majority of your fish are getting flossed. The humorous thing to me was to listen to the people up and down river from talk as if that's not what we're all doing.
Looking forward to getting back in a few days and trying out some new spoons I picked up at a yard sale this weekend. Today was fun, but as productive as drifting corkies and yarn is, it still feels kinda "cheaty" to me.
Tight lines!
