Took my boat out on the Snohomish River this morning fishin with a friend from work. It was my first time on any river with my boat so I was both excited and a bit apprehensive since it’s a deep V prop boat that I’ve only taken in the Sound and in bigger lakes. We anchored upstream from Langus Park where we launched and soaked live shrimp behind pink spin and glows which is where I landed my one and only fish of the day, a 4 pound hen. We both had additional bites using bait but were unable to keep them on. We moved up stream and anchored to cast pink squid jigs while we watched a boat with two guys on board hook and land 4 fish in record time before leaving with their two limits. We moved to their spot which is where my buddy landed his one and only fish, a nice buck at about 6 to 7 pounds. He and I both hooked a couple other fish in this spot but were unable to keep them on long enough to net. One of the two I lost there was at the boat, net at the ready when it got off. A closer look at the jog I was using revealed the hook had bent allowing the fish to get off. Not the happiest moment of my life. I’m guessing that fish was in the 8+ pound range. All in all a good trip and I had a blast on the river using my own boat. Had we netted all of the fish we hooked, we would have limited and it would have been a 5 star day but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. We did see others catch fish and a few we spoke with at the launch were also out all morning and had two or three in the boat like us. Back to the Hollow Friday morning at first light.

nice job Dave, I'm always a little nervous on the rivers, even with a jet. Just gotta take it easy and you'll be fine (but it never hurts to have a spare prop just in case).

Yea Chris, I'm the skinny guy in sweats and a sweat shirt with the smaller fish LOL. It was early when I caught my one and only boated fish so I was still in sweats and a sweat shirt. Later my buddy Mark caught his and is pictured in shorts which by then it was 80+ degrees outside. As for taking my prop in the river; I agree mike, I will surely be very careful out there! Thankfully my friend Mark was also my guide. He's been out on the Snohomish so many times that he was very confident my boat would be fine out there. What surprised me was the number of boats far bigger than mine with props running the river without hesitation. It made me realize even on a low tide like today, that my boat will be fine out on this river. Looking forward to silvers on the Snohomish. On the way back to the launch, we checked out the sloughs and it was amazing back there. It looked like a cutthroat and sturgeon paradise. I definitely need to look into that! Spoke with fetchitup7 who fished Humpy Hollow this morning. He said that more fish have filtered into the Hollow following Monday’s rain so as long as we don’t see another rain event, those fish should start stacking up which will make for some great fishin at the Hollow. I can’t wait till Friday morning!

I've been launching at Everett and running to Possession. On Tuesday, there were 8 purse seiners fishing about half mile north of Mulkiteo at 6 in the AM. They were still there when I came back at 2. I watched them for awhile, their nets were full. They can net five days a week until 9/4. If the bite was a little slow in the river, well, there are alot of Pinks going into nets.

If you want Pinks, better to hit the salt south of Mulkiteo, Scatchett buoy has been the best.

Dave, great report. Congrats on making the boat work in the river. I'll be out there tomorrow - btw, where IS humpy hallow?
