Dared to hit the river knowing that the lower section was closed due to netting. Not all that crowded actually from 6am-8am behind the Kmart. The bite was on first thing in the morning and lasted thru the whole time i was there. Just a few down periods scattered here and there. Green corkie and chartreuse yarn with egg scent worked all day plus my extra little secret. Caught well over 25 fish in about 4 hours and kept 4 very bright hens some had their scales falling off so still salty. Managed to hit 8 fish in 10 casts at one point and you could feel the fish bumping into your main line, so they were in thick. Also 6 good sized silvers were landed on my side of the river, lucky buggers.
Right about 8am the crowds started swarming in and it went into full combat mode. Not so bad on my side but across the river it was getting nutty. Lots of yelling and it looked like a fight was about to break out at one point. Some newbs moved in across they river from my group and instantly started causing problems. They were casting way to far across causing cross river tangles and some dingus was using a 2oz weight to drift with. The same guy caused almost 5 cross river tangles in 10 minutes. I didnt see him hook a single fish. Things started to go down hill with so many people and i called it a day.
