I spent 4 days camping on Prichard Creek 3 miles east of Murray, ID. I brought my fly fishing pole and my spinning reel. Didn't do any fishing the first 2 days of camp, decided to use that time to hike and explore some of the dirt roads in that area. On the third day, I noticed that the creek we were camping on was really shallow, so I ruled out throwing spinners. I tied on a Royal Wulff fly and made my way to the water, looking for a spot to throw a fly and maybe see if there is any life in the water. I haven't done much fly fishing in the past 8 years so I was working the rust out. On the first cast, I saw something splash up at my fly (it couldn't have been a fish). Made some more casts and got the hook-setting thing back and got a small brook trout. It felt really good to get something. I fished downstream for a couple hours and didn't keep track of the number of fish I caught, but I would guess around 30? All the fish were small, but made for some good practice. The biggest fish I encountered was a 10 inch cutthroat, very pretty fish. The next day we packed up camp and went back to Spokane. Feeling the fisherman's itch, I had to stop at a couple of the pull-offs along the road back to the interstate. I caught some nice sized Cutthroat trout on an elk hair caddis size 14. The biggest fish was about 13 inches or so, they seem so much bigger fighting on a fly rod than a spinning rod setup. I had a blast. I saw a lot of other people fishing, and nearly half of them (I could see them while driving 50 mph) had fish on their lines. This was the first time I have ever been up that river, and it will definately not be my last. All fish were released back to the care of mother nature.
