A co-worker took me out in his canoe this afternoon. Both of us are brand new to pink salmon fishing and didn't really know what we were doing. We stopped at a bait shop where we picked up a couple of pink marabou jigs and spoons that they said the fish were biting on. We put in at Cady Park and paddled just upstream of the railroad bridge. As we were putting the canoe in the water, we realized we had forgotten the net (beginner mistake... doh!) but decided to try our luck anyway. We fished from 4:30 till about 7:00 and went 3/6 - two on the pink jigs and one on a spoon. Getting the fish into the boat was a bit tricky, but we somehow managed to get a hand under them and sort of scoop them up into the canoe. Not to mention, all I had was a bass rod with 6lb line on it, so it was quite a thrill reeling those fish in! This was some of the most fun I've ever had fishing, and I'm definitely going again, only this time I won't forget the net!
