With the forecasted rain, I decided to head over to a spot in Tukwilla to intercept some Pinks. Started fishing around 7AM with a few fish here and there. Lots of brighter fish moving up, and they were bigger than what I had been catching in the area. Got bites in between the morning showers. Around 11PM I had14 Pinks to hand, with 5 Hens bonked. Was thinking of heading out one shy of my limit, as I hadn't hooked up in over an hour with anything besides a steelhead smolt. Decided to give it a few more cast, when my rod just doubled over. Set the hook, and the fish just exploded out of the water. Right then, I knew it cas a Coho. After a few heart stopping runs and feats of acrobatics, I was able to finally net it. Bonked the fish, punched my card, and I was headed home a happy man.
The fish were caught drifting a #1 50/50 Dick Nite attached to a 6ft leader on a sliding weight drift fishing rig. I just cast up stream and slowly reel throughout the drift.
