Went to the Green around the Auburn golf course at about 8:30 a.m. on Friday. Started throwing a silver spinner and after about 5 minutes, fish on. To my surprise it was a 7 or 8 pound male coho. Thanks to my fishing friend for assistance with the net. My first silver except for one I caught on a westport charter. Ended the day at about 1:00 P.M. landing the largest pink I have caught (about 28 inches).
Went back to the same place on Saturday at about 7:15 a.m. Started throwing a silver spinner again and had no luck (including pinks) for about 15 minutes. Switched to a gold spinner and, shortly thereafter, I landed another male coho about the same size as fridays. Learned a valuable lesson though. Next time, I will leave the coho in the net and take it as far from the water as possibe. One slip of the hand and splash. Oh well, this one lives (I hope) and spawns or gives someone else the thrill of the catch. Also caught a 12 inch jack which I released.
Same place on Sunday. One of the first fish I hooked, very well, may have been another silver. About 2 seconds after the spinner hit the water it hits. Set the hook, or so I thought, the fish jumped about 2 feet out of the water and spit the hook. Not much action on Sunday even from the pinks. Not sure how many pinks I landed in the 3 days, but I would venture to guess about 40.
A great weekend of fishing with my wife, 2 great friends I have know for some time and fellow washingtonlakes.com member who I met in the past week and who I would fish with any time.
