Went out at 5pm to fish the evening bite, Long lake is always best the hour before the sun goes down, it is the dead sea during the day (except for squawfish-or pike minnows). During happy hour on the lake, my wife and I fished for bass along the rocky banks/docks at the east end of the lake, started with huge jerkbaits in bass and firetiger patterns for Northern Pike and Bass, caught 3 smallies up to 5 lbs, and had two huge Northerns roll on the plugs and unfortunately miss. Switched to large spinnerbaits (titanium is the only way to go) in black, and black/chartreuse, made a mile pass down the bank going with the slight current at that end of the lake and picked up 12 more smallies between 2 and 4 lbs, the fish are right on the bank less than a foot of water, just cast and let the spinnerbait sink and wait for the "THUMP", also picked up several 3-4lbs squawfish, they make excellent Osprey fodder.
