wow where to begin, stayed up till 3:30 am getting my vest ready, leaders, hooks sharpend, etc. did lots of research on steelhead to find out my hooks and corkies were too big, so i switched to a #2 hook, i think size 10 or 12 bright red corkie, and put a toothpick in it to lock it in. woke up late didnt get to reiter till like 7:00am , come to find out not too many cars, got down the river and there is only like 10 guys fishing, so i think "hmm", i look down in the feeder creek, and 15 steelhead just chilling so thats good, i go and start drifting close to the creek a little farther down, about my 7th cast BOOM nice hit from a 6lb hen (not sure weight)chrome as can be, swallowed the corkie and took off, most amazing fight ill remember(i see why people go steelheading lol). fought good, cool guy netted it for me, and i have officially caught and landed my first steelhead, thank god it was hatchery. now to have the family over for a steelhead BBQ. the steelhead was so fresh the meat is acctually red. anyway thank you guys for all the tips on how to catch a steelhead it paid off, gotta hit it up tomorrow too, im hooked. also, some shrimp scent is good.
