Stayed at a cabin on the river by for a week like we do every year, this time by Riverbend. Fished off and on the entire week. Fished the most on Thursday the 19th when the weather was the best. Boated about 7 Pike over the week, all around 12-14 inches. I did not even see a decent Pike, they all are dead. Did catch both Small and Large mouth bass. Most of those had sores on their heads and/or broken jaws from all the netting. The fish and game has done a great job ruining not only the Pike fishing on the river but also the Bass. I also heard that they are killing Smallmouth too since they are going to be Phase 2 of their killing. Did see huge schools of Pike Minnows. I guess we can all fish for those in the coming years.

I'm sure you would have rather been fishing elsewhere! My friend that lives in Usk mentioned to me this morning that he hasn't seen a Bald Eagle in quite some time... Remove the food chain for wildlife sustainability and they move to where the food is. Is that Bald Eagle still nesting at the entrance to Campbell slough? Not only did we enjoy the scenery on our fishing trips up there, we enjoyed the wildlife too, we have pictures of Moose, Elk, Black bear, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles that are so majestic your jaw just drops at the sight of them, and lots of waterfowl. About the only thing the water up there is good for now is hydroelectric power and water sports!
