Hit the sky today, got there around 5:45 was pretty slow, landed one chinook around 9, was a wild so back she went. tryed alot of different taclke. saw a few good rollers but all n all was pretty slow. was low tide so that didn,t help. even the guide boats didn,t seem to be catching. so i was sitting on the bank fishing and heard some bush noise and a big buck, 2 fawns and a doe jumped in the river and swimmed across. Was sill a nice day on the river.

heres the deal, the fish was out for a min or so, this was so i could get the hook out with out damage to the fish. i think people would complain more if i send a nice fish like that floating down river. i did what i thought was right and snapped a pic during the unhook. i had a small back lash in my line and was not watching my float, so the hook was in her good. So for those who complain oh well. I am not the first to have to have a wild on the edge of the water to assure proper release. I pride myself on following the rules and always doing the right thing. when living in san diego i would even net tuna that i was not going to keep small footballs just so they didn,t have a gaff hole in them . the fish was 1 foot from the water, i put her in and waited till she came to life and took off like a rocket. So i think before others complain they should think about the times they may have been in this spot. I am just happy i could return her to the river unharmed with out a hook in her.

I'm not saying you didn't treat the fish right. In fact i hope you got the hook out okay and the fish swam off like a rocket. That's always good to see and hear people taking care of fish. But the fact of the matter is you not only netted a fish illegal but took it out of the water. Maybe next time take a pic of it in the water and out of a net and don't tell us the rest. I have also heard rumors that fish and wildlife will hunt down pictures like that and ticket you, but that's probably just a rumor. Either way though that's a great fish!

lol gps i had to put her in the net to get the hook out, tryed for about 30 seconds in the net in the water. of course i will be as carefull as possible . i hate to take from the water and only do so if i have to to make sure the fish is returned safe.

If they can ticket with the picture or video, then the guys on "hawg quest" will be in deep s***!!!!!!!Can't watch a single episode without seeing them take great big native steelhead or salmon out of a net then stand there holding it, posing with it and such before throwing it back. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is ok to do. Just surprised how the guys on hawg quest treat native fish and get away with it, even with it being aired on tv!!

Also i am glad people are watching out for this. last year i was fishing the same spot and almost had to punch this guy that caught a chinook during coho season. I told him nicely thats not a fish you can keep and he said bullshit, showed him the regs on my phone and he still was going to keep. then told him that him and the fish will go in the water or i can choke you out till the game warden gets here. he released it and left. I see more of this than i want on the rivers. Plus why can,t frigging people pick there trash up and take it with them???

I'm not trying to whine or anything. But either leave the fish in the water or don't tell anyone. Just cause the fish swam off okay doesn't make it fine.
