Today was alot of fun. My sister and I went out to the Quilcene to see if the silvers had shown up. The high tide was at 7am this morning so I figured getting there about 9 would be a good. Walked up to my usual spot way up river to find some fish. We're both using light gear, 2 - 3 ft leader with corky n yarn.
It was slow at first but then the schools started showing up. I foul hook the first one in the dorsal fin so back it goes, then the next 2 right in the beak, perfect hook set and they're in the bag. My sis hooks up finally but loses it from a loose drag, then gets another one that just goes nuts and snaps the leader, Damn! Then it was slow again until about 3 o'clock. I foul hook two more and manage to get #3 in the lower jaw, Cool. On our way back down I witness a teenager drag one in by the tail and bonk it, really??? whatever.
We saw alot of smaller fish today my biggest being only 7lbs. It's early and the bigger ones should come in a few weeks. Not quite a "5" day but still awesome! Will be back on sunday.
