How do I even explain this awesome day on the Quil? We arrived at rodgers street at about 10am to a mass of cars parked on both sides. We walked upriver passed the crowds and parked it at my favorite spot for some privacy.
The first hour was slow but then something happened... Pushes of silvers started swimming by in the dozens! We quickly landed 3 in about 20 minutes. There was a short break and then out of nowhere schools and schools just showed up, we bagged 5 more in about 2 hours as these fish are on the move. All fish today were caught on a small piece of lead, 3ft leader with a orange corky and yarn. We stopped at 8 fish between the 3 of us because the cooler won't hold anymore and then just like that about 3 pm the run was done.
Take note: 9/10 people are using a giant hook with the weight behind it trying to drag in the fish any way possible, Snaggers! It's not neccesary. Throw the set up I explained in front of a school and gently drift it through, it's really not that hard to hook a fish correctly, just be patient! On our way back down a guy said "Wow you guys slayed them today" I looked him straight in the eye and said, "Yep, every single one in the mouth".
