Went back to the Quilcene in hopes of another crazy day. Got down to the parking lot and it was jammed!? On a Monday?! Anyways, make it down to the mouth and get in line. There were a few fish coming up but not really crazy like the day before.

Caught three fish at the mouth and decided to leave because it was slow down there. Went up by the 101 bridge and walked down to catch two more. Left the Quil with 5 today and it will be my last trip out there.

I went to the Skok for the first time Monday. I saw hundreds of fish in nice deep holes upstream of the 106 bridge. Then I was dismayed to find signs on the trees telling me I can't fish in that part of the river where a person could actually "fish" for them. So, I went downstream to the area below the 106 bridge to find a bunch of people standing in 6" of water flossing. At first I was a little put off by that. But after observing that we were all standing in 6" of water with only a couple spots deeper than 2 feet along the bank, I began to understand why flossing is about the only way to catch the fish there. The fish jump from one small hole to another hole by racing across water that is 6" or LESS deep. Are they going to bite ANYTHING? No. They're running for their lives looking for cover in hard to find deeper water. There's no way someone can "fish" for these fish. If you are going to catch them, you get your line in front of them and wait for them to run into it. It's unfortunate sports fishers are relegated to un-fishable waters when a half mile upstream you could use actual fishing techniques to catch them. I agree the tribes have the right to 50% of fish in the rivers per treaty, but I don't appreciate how the state gives tribal netters the best "fishing" spots 5 out of 7 days a week. How is that a "50/50 share". Am I missing something?

Alright guys, only going to say this once, per site policy... " We appreciate it when fellow anglers share their opinions, techniques, fishing holes and all around fishing knowledge. That being said, we do not appreciate negative or threatening comments posted anywhere on our site. If you have something negative to say, please keep it to yourself or you might find your account deleted and your IP banned." Moving on...

I'm with Bretts Dad. Was kind of hoping the crowds would be more manageable for when I'm up there Labor Day weekend but sounds too crowded with native and sporties and lots of yanking I'm guessing plus a holiday weekend. Bummer.

Personally, if an 11 year old kid is fishing with whomever including parent (unless they're a real smart turd), I'd play nice and maybe even give them some gear or a shot at playing a hooked fish I hooked the correct way (hand it to them and say 'you want to play this fish? It's feisty! Or something along those lines). Encourage them to do it right.

Good luck to those that are out anyway.

post them already.. 99% of them are what you said. i saw people raking them in 4 inches of water and little kids catching (meating) their parents also and guys in there 40's 50's. everyone there knows and dont even care about snagging. i talked to a dozen people and that report from, i think fish-freak23 he was so cocky in his reports i think he was "fronting" about how he called out all the snaggers because he was saying he was all that but i know for a fact he would have had 10 people at least on him but he still had to act tough. bait guy (i could be wrong, maybe redbeard. check the reports for who's in question) that talked stuff about snaggers (everyone snagges at the quilll) they all would have talked back to him, 100% of everyone has bait kinves and buck knives so why be rude to anyone and also most people carry metal with ccp. i think he was just being big headed because i wouldnt confront anyone unless confronted, but everyone is very friendly there so why be rude man?? redbeard was reporting about talking trash also but oh well just dont do it to the wrong person (not me). so if that guy that says he talks trash to whoever that snaggs, well thats 100%. just dont get too into being snagging police and just fish man. fish-freak23 SMH chill man because if you confronted the wrong people i know you would get your mouth shut nomatter how tough you think you are.. chill dude and mind your own
