My Brother In-law and I decided to give the Skok one more shot, before the closure. Got to the spot around 6AM, and immediately started hooking into fish, just like yesterday. Drift after drift we'd get float down, after we put on new bait. We could have had our limits within 10 minutes, but for some reason they kept throwing the hook. No matter what we did, loosening the drag or playing the fish longer, they still would shake our hooks after a couple head shakes.
After losing 6 fish in a row, including a slab chromer that got hung up under some logs, I finally broke my streak of bad luck by landing the next two. Both were bucks, with one still carrying sea lice.
My Brother In-law fared a little better. He went 0-4 before releasing a bright wild hen, and then bonking two nice bucks.
It's too bad the seasons winding down, as there are a lot of bright fishing pushing up.
