So we fished the Stilly for the morning yesterday for Coho, at first light we happened upon a large school of bright Coho. Within the first half hour we had some short strikers, and nailed this nice bright hen about 4 or 5 pounds. Although we hated to leave fish, we wanted to scout the rest of the river, so we hit a couple of spots from Silvana to Arlington, and beside the odd straggler and cutthroat we couldn't find the schools again. Went back to the first hole, but the river floaters and swimmers were out by then and had set up camp at the good stretch and totally killed the bite. Hit it early, and you'll find your fish.
Fish were caught nymphing a flash fly on 5wt rods, these early fish seem to be running a lot of jacks, but the fish are in! It's coho a go-go already! I'm booking trips and lessons fast so shoot me an email or a call and we'll get you started on the techniques and locations to nail these fish when they come in full force.
