Got off work early today, so drove down to the Green and fished at Tukwila, just west of the I-5 bridge. Arrived at about 1:30, tide high at just about 3:00PM. Casting Blue Fox spinners #4's... started with chartreuse & fl. red (1/2 and 1/2) ... about 2:00 had a large Chinook launch out of the water at my spinner as I brought it to shore... missed! Changed to silver & blue... nothing... then to black with a silver blade tipped with fl. orange... Quite a few fish surfacing before the tide change (Chinook and Silvers)... became much more quiet on the water after the tide change. Could see wakes on the surface as multiple Silvers were milling around in the hole in front of me. About 3:30 the sky turned quite dark and a steady, albeit light, rain began to fall about 4:00. About 10 minutes after the rain started I had one solid hit on the black & silver, but did not stick. Lots of garbage on the water made fishing a challenge.
Saw 7 or 8 others fishing the same area, no fish caught. Spoke to one gentleman who had fished the same area with shrimp all morning and caught nothing. He said he had witnessed someone take an 8# Silver on eggs under a float on Saturday, so fish are definitely in, just not biting yet.
Left the river at 5:00PM to go home and get dinner... and answer the question that wives have asked from time immemorial, "Where's the fish?" The trick is to try to get them to feel sorry for you... that trick is getting harder to pull off these days!
