Well after hitting the cascade in the morning and having lockjaw dark coho all over, we decided to shoot down to my secret little late season holding water in marblemount for coho on the skagit, it was pretty decent fishing, landed a bunch of coho, mostly dark smokers, and lost some, that was decent, the coho are winding down, HOWEVER, first cast in the new hole i took to show my client where drift needed to be, i get hit, let him eat, set the hook, and this thing TAKES off! im wondering what the hell is going on, coho dont fight like this, 5 minutes later we finally get a look at a giant 2 salt hen steelhead, fresh as can be, and it takes off again, and again, after a LONG fight not even comparable to any coho ive caught all year, we land the beast. Oh and did i mention the kid and his dad who were with me today had never caught a fish period, and the 12 year old's first fish was a super hard fighting 12 lb steelhead? It was awesome to see him reel in this great fish, it was hatchery so obviously bound for the cascade but was holding waiting for rain, decent day and the steelhead was the high point for SURE!

way to go!!!!! that 12 year old is going to have some serious expectations from here on out!!! looked like the cascade got some water so I am surprised the fish had lock jaw, I would have been up there, but I don't do weekends.
