Somehow I convinced myself that due to my recent luck, I'd be able to get my wife on her first Salmon.....why I continue to think I can coach my wife on fishing and keep our two kids out of trouble is beyond me, but apparently I have not learned my lesson yet...as today was no exception...although the kids were actually quite well behaved. Can't really expect them to just sit quietly while Mom and Dad fish anyhow. They are getting pretty good at casting their trout rods too....now if I could get them to work on their aim.
We loaded up and hit 112th right about 10:30. thought hitting the tide change would be the ticket. The natives were lying in wait down river waiting for noon to roll around. The spots I wanted to fish were already taken, found the safest spot for the kids under the bridge. Well it wasn't a complete disaster, but it certainly was similar to a train wreck. My wife tried in vain until noon without result. I tried a few casts and managed to lose the Chartrugly II to a rock. Fortunately I tied the Chartrugly III just this morning for just a case as this. Tried a few different color combos...all containing chartreuse in one way or another. Saw a few fish rise, but no fish caught by anyone else. Right at noon a guy put net right in front of us and tied it to the bridge piling, so called it quits with a tad of disgust thrown in. Bummed I couldn't put my wife on a fish, but she certainly tried her best for the time and place she was given.
