the day would have gotten a 5 if we actually hooked something. started out at family property on the upper east fork, almost hit 2 deer on the way in. found 2 bull elk in an old christmas tree farm by shaefer, 3x3 and 4x4. heard it was opening day of the season for them. we were within 20 yards looking at them next to the no trespassing/no hunting signs. green diamond had their gate open, easier then dealing with the landowner access gate. the river was high and muddy. several coho and some chum were swimming by as we were targetting trout, no salmon fishing allowed up there. several silvers in the creek in the back of the property, watched as a pair was preparing and the male kept chasing a jack away from his women. a few guys fishing in the lower river by cook creek.
stopped by the skokomish on the way back, a few fishing. several nets in the lower river by the mouth, 2 girls were using one of them. that river was high and muddy also.
a long road trip and a good day even though we were fishless.
