Hit the Sky for a couple hours with my brother Gerry and friend Kyle. We were fishing below the mouth of the Sultan River. The water was really high, but the color wasn't too bad. Had about three feet of visibility. We fished for about three hours. Saw a few chrome Coho turn in the hole we were working. Tried multiple corkie & yarn color combinations and leader lengths as well as a few different lures. Gerry hooked up with a White Fish while using a silver spinner. About two hours in I apparently hooked up with a big King. An epic 15-20 minute battle ensued as I attempted to bring the beast in for a quick photo opt and release with my light Coho setup. I was using a silver hammered Krocodile spoon. Bouncing it off the bottom on and slowly retrieving it through the hole when I felt the fish grab it. The fish hunkered down for a couple minutes. Then I felt a tremendous head shake and it slowly swam up river about 40 feet into a deeper part of the hole as I followed. I fought for about 10 minutes to tire it out and bring it up. It peeled of about 30 feet of line twice running down stream and I fought it back in successfully both times. The third time it peeled off about 80 feet as I followed it back down stream trying to get control and keep it out of the fast water below the hole. Finally saw it hit the surface in the shallow water down stream right before it got in the current. Appeared to be about three feet long couldn't see the girth. Once it hit the rapids it was over... the leader popped. Wasn't too bummed because I knew I was going to have to release it. Just wish I was able to get a picture to show everyone. Didn't catch any Coho, but gave the day a three because we hooked up with some fish and it was a wonderful day on the Sky with my bros, saw a bunch of bald eagles and a blue heron. Looking forward to going back when the water drops. Tight lines!!

FUn to have some coho, steelies, chum and king all in at once! Saw a guy land a ~15lb King last week just below mouth of Wallace. We were all NOT shocked thanks to oddball summer...!

@Jethro - Been a weird year all around, but I can't complain that was a crazy cool battle yesterday. Made up for the weeks without. And that was a HUGE Chum you caught the other day! Hope to hook up with one of those bad boys too!
