Went to Rocky Ford yesterday for the first time. The guys that took me said that the water is down a foot from normal. WOW, there is not much water there. In places the fish looked like the water was almost too low to cover their fins.
I checked the USGS site http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wa/nwis/rt and noticed that Crab Creek above Moses Lake is one of the few sites in the state that is lower then normal. http://waterdata.usgs.gov/wa/nwis/uv?site_no=12465000
I have been told that Crab Creek may be the source of the springs at Rocky Ford, so ........
OK, now for the report. Yes, there are some real hogs there, and I lost one and caught two. One was 32" and the other was 26". The fishing was tough and I did better then most, and for Rocky Ford this is not uncommon to catch "and Release" fish of this size, but you had better be an expert fly fisherman.
