Hit the river after work with kgowens. First day of river fishing this season so I headed to my favorite hole on the Sky. Fishing was pretty slow. We were drifting eggs through a couple deep pockets. Had a few hits here and there but nothing was sticking so I switched to a spoon. Went up to a spot I knew was holding something. About half an hour in a massive king surfaced right next to me... I thought to myself, they're in here :) Back to eggs. Casted through a great drift and wham, but it didn't stick. I knew he wanted more, so more eggs to the hook, casted again in the same seam, and wham, it stuck. About 10 minutes on my light tackle and into a medium size net it went, and then it broke through the mesh, but we had it.

Great start to a season with this likely 30 pound category king. Great fishin with you yesterday Kris. Tried to edit the photo down enough to hide the location. I know there a couple local guys very keen on keeping this spot quiet.

A little trick when trying to hide the spot, dont have your back to the river.

Yeah, like I said I'm not too concerned... More important I post my best photo with it :) Only those who know the spot would actually be able to tell where it is, and how to get there!

Man, helping land that BEAST was amazing! I look forward to going back there! You know you got a rare fish, when a local on his way home from work stops in the middle of the road, puts it in park and goes, WHERE THE F*(^ did you catch that, I havent seen one that big in a LONG TIME!

jpjames....I think your fish owes me a new net since it tore through mine like a kid opening gifts on xmas once it hit the bank!!!

I would post the goPro video, but then the TOP SECRET location would be out of the bag! Even though, after being there a ton, I still can't find it that easily!! If I were to guess where this picture was taken, I would guess Western Washington!
