"going for two dozen"
We arrived at the cady park boat ramp at 6am and much to my suprise it was pretty barren for being a weekend. Slid the boat in the water and headed down river to intercept some passing schools. We ran down to the gravel bar and anchored up about 30 feet from shore and I guess we put the boat right on top of the humpie super highway. First cast and hit one right at the boat, then my other two buddies hooked up. Triple right off the bat. I knew it was gonna be a hot day. Caught and released a hole mess of fish and kept a few that were bleeding or big enough to put in the smoker. Hooked one monster fished and I have no idea what it was but we ended up pulling the anchor and trying to run it down. Hook pulled after about 5 minutes and the ghost fish got to live another day.
I boated 13 fish and kept one big bucks and three chromer hens. My buddies did about ten a piece and kept their limits. We probably could have caught way more fish and most of them seemed to hit right at the boat, like to the point we werent even casting that far, just drifting the jigs back behind the boat. I was not feeling well due to friday nights activitys so had a plug rod out the back of the boat for the last two hours and hit five fish on a chrome and pink plug. Spent most of my time netting fish and checking gear but it was an awesome day.
The Troublemakers were the hot ticket again today accounting for all but 6 fish. They seem to like pulling hooks this year, we lost a lot at the boat. Cant wait to hit it tomorrow!
