First time fishing with the daughter in years, we got to the Langus boat ramp around 7am, a little later than planned but as luck would have it we missed the early rush and we were the only ones putting in at that time.
We went upstream to the slough were I had previously had some luck, no fish showing at all and after a few hours we headed back to the main part of the river, every boat we passed had the same hard luck story, no fish. Spent a couple hours fishing the river, nothing seen or had, went back to the slough to see if anything was happening, nobody was catching.
Finally the tide hit its low point and started to turn so we headed back out to the main channel, just as we were telling another boat that we had not even seen a fish a school of them moved through and we both started casting, I had one on for about two seconds and lost it, then they were gone. We anchored up and waited for round two which came a few minutes later, but again we could not get them to bite, by now we were joined by about 6 other boats and I did not see anyone hook a fish. The next wave was about twenty minutes later and this time I hook a nice one and got it right up to the boat before it spit the hook. Nobody seemed to be connecting with the fish so we motored down toward I5 an saw more fish rolling, if you came up on them too fast they just disappeared so we took it slow, we got a few hits but nothing solid, sealions all over the place lower down so around 5pm we called it quits for the day, better luck next time.
