I was able to meet with Gringo Pescador this morning at 6:15am for my first outing on the Duwamish River. We trolled with plugs for the first couple hours then anchored and threw some jigs. Then we moved up and anchored again. Here we watched 2 other boats hook up. We all felt the fish hitting our lines. I hooked one and saw it for a second before it was off then Gringos brother got one in. Oh yes, Gringo got a bullhead earlier. Then we heard thunder. We were all agreed this was earlier than the weather man said it would be. DUH! and we believe them. I got my phone app "Weather Bug" out to see what it said. At the top it said lightning in your area Seattle 4.7 miles away. Gringo says " should we go, its up to you 2." I think I told him he was boss. There was lightning and a few seconds later, thunder, "we're going in". Now I saw only one other boat from the area we were in leaving to get off the water. I wonder why, especially with the type of lightning we have been having.
Thank you Gringo for taking me somewhere I have never been before.

Glad you could get out with us Toni - sorry the catching wasn't so hot. That storm was coming in fast, the 1st bit of thunder had me thinking we could troll back to the launch, that 2nd flash changed that plan pronto! I've spent enough time in the midwest to know that in the middle of open water in an aluminum boat is not the place you want to be during a thunderstorm. Our timing was actually perfect cause we got the boat pulled out and off to the side and by the time we had it buttoned down to hit the road there was a huge line of empty trailers waiting for thier turn to pull boats out.

I know the feeling and good call on your part! I was over in E. WA on Park lake last May when I noticed some dark dark clouds moving in from the East and decided to pull the boat out and just as I did all hell broke loose with lightning strikes on the hills above the lake and torrential down pour of rain!
