It was a good day on the river if you don't mind catching a TON of humpies. The fish I caught actually looked better but most of them didn't fight much. Reminded me of carp fishing. Probably caught 50+ fish but it wasn't non-stop action. I started with an orange/white "poof" jig and it worked well for about an hour. After 10 minutes without catching a fish, I switched to the old stand-by: Gold head + pink & purple rabbit fur. Bingo! Slammed 'em again.

Shout out to Cabelas for making an affordable IM7 spinning rod that can take some serious abuse! I'm amazed that a medium-weight bass rod performed so well. The reel also performed flawlessly. Pflueger President - affordable and not really made for this kind of abuse. Drag was smooth and very predictable.
