Had the day off work, so after getting the kids off to school and hemming and hawing over where to go cast a line I figured I'd try some place besides the Duamish. Drove north to the Skykomish. Found a spot close to Monroe and gave it a go. So many PINKS! Dead, dying, swimming, spawning....rotting! Tried floating eggs for a while, but wasn't getting any action, so switched to Dick Nites. Didn't take long to hook up with a humped up Pink buck. Continued to use this method thinking maybe I'd pick up a Coho eventually. Ended up going 6/9 all Pinks that were brought in. Four hens and 2 bucks. All were well colored, but none were moldy. All returned to the river. Moved down river right before I left and lost my Dick Nite, so called it a day. Fished from 11am to 2pm. Started off foggy then turned into a beautiful sunny day. No Coho, but fun checking out a new location and the weather was awesome. Looked like those across the river from me were having similar luck with many Humpies caught and released. Nice fishing someplace where the mud didn't stink as bad as the fish and at least catching Pinks was better than nothing. :)

No, I had them in my jacket, but the water I was fishing wasn't really conducive to that style of fishing. More drift water.

it is a beautiful river with lots of places to explore as well~ I have to be in Bothell Friday so may give it a try myself. At least you got into some action!
