Let me first explain that I rated this post a 5 simply because it was an amazing adventure.

I found a new stretch of water out in the sticks. It took a good 20-25 min to hike into. There were a few good deep pools that were holding some serious fish. Upon my arrival I see silvers splashing everywhere. In my mind I'm thinking it was going to be an easy limit. Little did I know that I had to put in work just to land one fire truck of a buck. Believe me when I say it, this fish was the brightest of the bunch. Lost a few really red fish which was fine with me because they were going to be released. I foul hooked a king that was pretty beat up and safely released. I had tons of fish follow my jig everywhere but refused to bite. I think the water clarity played a factor as it was pretty clear. Nothing else took my jig so I packed up and explored some other spots that I will fish in the future. On my way back I noticed either bear or cougar tracks. Not sure which one but they were HUGE and I wasn't about to stay around to find out. Back off to the trail I went and here I am safe and sound at home. I look forward to having a full day to fish this location again. Next time maybe bring some spinners. Tight lines y'all!
