Woke up late this morning at 7:30am and decided to hit Reese Road and try my luck for the 6th weekend in a row on some coho. The river was a lot higher than it has been all month long and was moving quite fast. I started off drifting eggs for about 45min with not even a bite. I was seeing fish jumping all over the place and they were huge. After fishing for an hour and a half of fishing without a bite and throwing dick nite, eggs, corky/yarn, spinner, plugs, and coon shrimp I decided to ask a fellow angler for some insight on what they were biting on (jig under float). I tie up and throw out the jig for about 20 min. Next thing I know bobber down, hook set, and fish on. It felt like I was fighting a log. It started swimming toward me and I reeled as fast as I could. Once the fish was just about 10ft from my feetand before I could get a good look he switched directions and ran down river. I thought my reel was going to catch fire. After a long fight (about 15min) I can finally the top of the float starting to surface, the fish is close. I walk into some good shallow water where I could land the fish and then I see him. CHUM. This was my first time catching chum, also my first salmon that wasn't a humpy. My dad came over and took a quick picture of me and my catch, I unhooked him and sent him on his way to go finish what he came up here to do. Beautiful fish and awesome fight.

Between me and my dad we succefully caught, photographed and release 4 chum safely back to the river so they can go make more chums. It's too bad the numbers on these fish are so low and you can't fish for them cause man are they fun to catch. Although I didn't get the fish (coho) I was looking for, the chums were nice to stumble upon.

All in all it was a fun day. After 6 straight weeks without a fish, it felt good to finally catch a fish.
