Didn’t expect to get any fishing in this weekend but got the opportunity to sneak down to the Green for a few hours in the morning while the wife ran errands. Glad I did! Went to Metzler Park and it was a lot of fun. Went 5/8 in about 3 hrs (stayed a little longer than I thought, catching will do that). The place is packed with chum and people. Everybody was hooking fish and having a good time. I got lucky and slid into a spot as a guy was leaving and fished next to two cool dudes that helped net my fish and shared gear back and forth, good guys. Everybody was floating jigs tipped with shrimp including me. Fun watching that bobber go down then ripping a hook set and hearing your reel sing! 2 of the fish lost were from bending out a barbless hook after good fights and the other due to a netting snafu that was pretty funny. Kept 2 bucks to smoke up and turn into dip, brining in the fridge right now. Tight lines all!

Great report and congrats on getting into some fun chum fishing on the Green! Makes it nice too when you get some good company too~

Nice! I was under the bridges and floating a jig with no takers. Talked to a couple pretty cool guys while we lamented at the flossers across the river, they were heading to Metzler so hopefully they were successful up there. I really wish the DFW would do something about the snaggers, they take away from the experience of a nice day on the lake.

Hi LTrain, yes they do, didn't see any of that at Metzler which was a nice change. Everybody fishing legit and hooking fish left and right, the way it should be!
Hey mizm05 - meat was still firm but was fairly pale, not bad just not flavorful on it's own but easy to spice up and work with. The smoked fish turned out pretty good, going to make a dip out of it tonight. Basically a crab artichoke dip but with smoked chum instead of crab, sounds good to me haven't tried it yet though. Fried some up for dinner Sat night and dipped in a dill/garlic tartar sauce, not complaining!
