Fished the Cowlitz at the barrier dam early this morning for spring Chinook. Saw quite a few fish hooked/landed with people having success drifting glow corkies, using darts, drifting eggs, and floating eggs under a bobber. I was able to get this chrome bright 9# Chinook by floating a big clump of Steelhead eggs that were cured up with pink Pautzke's Borx O' Fire about 10' under the bobber.
It didn't take too long for me to get the hook up after switching to the eggs. I was only into my third clump on the hook, so it was probably within half an hour or so of actual fishing time with the eggs. My first two clumps I fished a bit shallower, maybe about 8', but I lengthened it out to about 10 or maybe 11' feet for the third clump and got the fish around 8:15am.
