Went to our island this morning. We're located next to Rasar State Park. Wasn't expecting any fish, just doing a recon. It was a good (or bad) sign that there was a fleet of small boats about a mile downriver from my location. To me it meant fish had gotten this far upriver. Sure enough, had a lot of jumpers and surfacing fish so I rigged up and had a line in the water by 7:00 am. Tried a bunch of different setups with some heavy hits but no serious inquiries and no hook ups. I did land a small sucker fish so at least I don't feel I got skunked, released it unharmed. The fish are there, just got to figure out what they want. I'll probably throw on the waders and try tossing a fly next time out.
