Having never hooked a Chum (have only really tried a couple times in past seasons) I thought I would go try a popular hole this morning and hopefully check that one off the box. Got to the river about 9am and only had an hour to fish. There were a handful of guys already fishing, but the reports were that there was very little action. The water had risen overnight and the color was low vis grey/brown. I spent the hour floating a jig tipped with prawn. Close to shore, out in the current, and in between, no love. I also tried my twitching jigs, but have never had luck when the water is that high and off color, so not the best place/time to use them. Needless to say, they also drew a blank. Saw one caught by a guy upriver, but that was it. Left at 10am. Who would have thought that finding a Chum would be so difficult?
