Arrived at Reiter parking lot around 7am. It was full and people were still pulling in behind me. Got my waders on and headed down to the river with hopes of finding a good spot by the big boulder (I always hook fish here). The bank was packed with people. It was still dark so I hung back to set up my float rod and drift rod. OTE sand shrimp dingle berry jig under the float and pink corky with baby pink yarn for drifting. I walked down stream and then back up looking for a spot. I managed to find a spot next to a nice couple right in front of the big boulder.
I started out drifting because it was still dark and couldn't see my float. Nothing. I got hung up and broke off. By that time it was light out so I switched over to float fishing. Nothing again. I got hung up and broke off. I switched back to my drift rod, this time with pink corky and shrimp pink yarn with sand shrimp scent. Tick, tick, tick, tick, boom. FISH ON! Played it for about 5 minutes and then landed a nice buck about 6-7 lbs. Got.him on a stringer, punched him on the record, and gave it a few more swings before hanging up again and calling it a day.
FISH were being caught but not as many as I expected with beautiful river conditions.
