I've been fishing the Green River quite a bit more frequently even though the Steelhead population is lacking, at best. The first few times I hiked in to the Icy Creek Hatchery area. The first trip out there this year I hooked into a nice 8-10lb Steelie using a silver Blue Fox spinner (sadly it spit the hook). Five trips since then I haven't hooked or seen a thing. This past Sunday I decided to try out the Hanging Gardens hole because I had never been there before. After quite a bit of research and Satellite analysis I was pretty sure that I knew where to park to hike in. Sure enough I found it easily and hiked down to the hole. I was extremely glad that I did because once you get down to the river bank you find out just how beautiful that area is. If there is a Steelhead in the Green River, this is the spot. I was using jigs under a float for a couple hours before switching over to drift fishing with a corky & yarn. The hole is absolutely gorgeous and even though it was pouring rain, I had a great time at Hanging Gardens. One of these days I'll hook into another Green River Steelhead. That day can't come soon enough......
