Fished the Touchet on Friday downstream of Dayton, as well as the 28th of February (fished the Tucannon on this day as well), for steelhead and trout. Caught 2 smaller hen steelhead on the 6th, both about 5 pounds. The first one was caught on a skwala stonefly pattern, we spotted it taking a few off the surface and made a few casts with the fly rod and she came up and hit the fly. The second one was caught on the spin rod with an egg rig (eggs, yarn and a free floating corkie in front). Spotted a few big buck steelhead but couldn't get them to hit. We tried dry flies, nymphs, and streamers for browns, bull trout, rainbows, and whitefish but couldn't seem to find any.
On the 28th of February I hit the Tucannon and the Touchet, pulled a 5lb hatchery buck out of the Tucannon upstream from Starbuck, and an 8 lb wild buck from the Touchet downstream of Dayton. The buck from the Tucannon was pretty spawned out, but the wild fish from the Touchet was a healthy fish. Both of these were caught on eggs.
