Arrived at 345am to start hiking down to river. Got to my rock around 400 and started fishing as soon I could see (around 430) missed a few in the first few hours and seen around 10 solid hookups with about 7 fish landed from guys fishing around me. I was having trouble with my baitcaster. Kept birdnesting on me and with braided it made it for some tough fishing for me. Around 930 a guy shows up next to me and start hooking fish every 15-30 minutes. After helping him netting a fish I decided to use my 6'6 trout rod with spinning reel I decided to bring just in case. Set it up with float and nightmare jig and finally was able to cast it where I wanted it. Around 1015 maybe 3rd or 4th cast after switching over it was bobbed down, hookset and fish on. What a fight it was on a medium light action trout rod, which I use for casting spinners and spoon to stocker trout. Let my drag loose and played the fish with my palm. Something I learned watching reel priorities youtube videos and his 100% landing philosophy. After a few runs and few jumps I was able to bring the fish I little closer so he can be netted.
