got to the river very early, went to the usual spot and there was no love to be had, the schools seemed to mostly be onbthe far side of the river today. i relocated after an hour with nothing and just decided to explore. i found a shallow stretch that the river bottlenecked at and could see a bunch of fish pushing up through, and knew there were more stacked behind the rifle they were pushing into. so i first tried the slightly deeper water behind tge riffle twitching a jig, after nearly 30 minutes of doing that i finally landed a pink. i decided to switch gears and try sonwthing new so i put on a dick night for a while, not much action on that, then i switched to a blue fox and got several strikes, i landed another fish after 20 minutes of using that. i got my 3rd fish of the day on a fl pink wooley bugger with a couple split shots 2' up fron the fly, then it seemed like they just stopped coming through. i lost 2 fish today adwell. spent 4 hours for 3 fish, certainly not hot action this morning, although most everyone else in sight seemed to be getting skunked.

Were you at Thomas Eddy? I'm headed out there for my first time later this afternoon. Any advise? I usually fish up near 522 or down at Rotary.

i wasnt fishing a popular hole, but towards the upper river, i wont dislose exact locations. the fish are all over the river. just find a spot where they swim within casting range at low slack through incoming tide. location is irrelevant really as long as there are fish within casting range.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Would you recommend going to Thomas Eddy then since it's a little bit of a walk to get to the river? Or just finding an easier access spot?

any spot is good as long as you can see fish roll once in a while within casting range. if your spot looks dead dont waste your time. once you find a spot with near rollers, fish it until you figure out the technique. if theyre there and your technique is good, you will certainly catch fish. fish also when you dont see any rollers, there are plenty of fish that will never show themselves, the purpose of looking for the rollers is to see where they most commonly are traveling, and hammer that area.
