9/5/2015 3:55:00 PMI tried the pink and purple jigs too. I had more hook ups with those, but pink worked well. In fact a pink with lots of sparkle did fine. I also tried the sand shrimp oil for the first time. Hard to say if it worked cause once I caught a quick fish on it, I didn't feel good if I didn't load up. Kind of funny that a piece of real sand shrimp on the jig didn't work well.
Jonb had it down. I found his advice was right on. I'm on a boat, but the same holds true. The fish are taking best if the jig is within inches of the bottom. Makes me pick sand and gravel bottoms to keep from losing jigs. The pinks are all over now. Almost hard to avoid hitting them with my prop.
So many pinks that they were right under my boat. I found I could hook a quick limit by jigging within 5' of the boat and my ability to keep the jig right around the bottom was easier. It is like fishing in a barrel. I wish the silvers were even remotely similar.
Question I thought of - where do 1 million pinks find room in the Snoho?

9/5/2015 11:25:00 PMAlways a fun report. Hey, any tips on smoking pinks? My attempts keep coming out too salty and nearly as dry as jerky.
Next time I plan to keep in the brine for less time and also will smoke for less time. If you have a good recipe or can refer me to one online that would be helpful. Thanks.

9/7/2015 10:10:00 PMFishing Tenor, I typically use 3/4 cup of salt, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder. Soak for 6-8 hours and rinse the fillets really well. Like 5 times. Then let them dry for a couple hours and they should be ready. Rinsing helps pull all that salt out but still keeps the flavor.
