Had a very eventful Labor Day weekend at Birch Bay. Did a little crabbing and got about 20 total. We would have had more but the boat took on water and then capsized in the middle of the bay. Scary for all of us. There were a lot of other boats out there but no one saw them. They swam for an hour before a kayaker saw them and helped them in. Another boat helped tow in our boat. Thank God they are all fine.

After all that excitement we all decided to stay on shore for the rest of the weekend. Sunday afternoon the kids and I found a spot on the Nooksack that looked pretty good. Easy access and a big beach with no crowds. In fact there was only one boat and two other guys fishing. The guys in the boat were doing very well and I watched them land 4 nice bright hens.

The kids and I fished an hour or so. Saw a few fish roll but did not hook up. I give this a 3 because, hell, I was fishing. :) And on top of that I was fishing with my kids.

Wow that is eventful!! My buddy/coworker was the kayaker. Glad everyone was ok!

Tell your buddy "Thank you!" I would hate to think of what might have happened if he didn't notice them.
