My niece and I hit the Skokomish River hoping to bag some Coho. To be fair there are Coho in the river but there are very few compared to the Kings and Pinks. We found a hole up by Purdy Creek where we spent the day doing battle with King after King and loving every minute of it. Kings can no longer be retained but that certainly didn’t stop them from trying to go home with us. To a fish they were all some degree of Dark but not bad. I believe the run finally came in after they closed the River on the 1st of September. Typically, by this time of year the only Kings to be had are Boots and the bottom is littered with their carcasses. The only Coho we saw were a few bright flashes and the tails of some that had holed up under a snag.
