Had an hour to kill after work and I had my kid's trout pole with some light tackle in my car, so I thought I'd head over to my neighborhood river. Parked at the community center and decided to find a level spot along the bank to cast from; on my 3rd cast, fish on! It was both thrilling and nerve racking trying to reel in a pink on 4lb test line on a steep bank and surrounded by blackberry bushes and no net... What was I thinking?! Out of sheer luck (I like to think it was pure skill :), I was able to land the fish. For the next hour I lost one when my line was cut by the rocks on the bank, lost a jig and landed one more..

Seems the pinks are still running, but I'm hoping the rain brings some cohos. This time around, I'll make sure I have a net and at least 6lb test :)
