Launched at Montesano ramp on an outgoing tide. Went downstream and trolled flashers and herring. There were about 20 boats in this section all trolling with herring. No one was reporting any action. After about an hour of trolling, I went back upriver past the launch ramp to the holding pool by the house. Marking some fish in this area. Watched one boat catch and release two kings using orange flying C's. They also hooked and boated a silver. I got one hit (saw the flash of the fish) in this area also using a flying C. I also tried using float and eggs but no takers. Started trolling downstream back to the launch ramp. While casting the orange flying C, hooked and netted a king. Twelve pounds would be my guess on the weight. After pulling the hook, the fish headed back upstream. Continuing downstream, I talked to a fellow who was trolling #5 Mepps spinners who just caught and released a nice king. He had also caught a silver on the same lure. Some old timers on the river told me next week should see more fish in the river. These fish were caught about an hour from high tide.
