The skunk is off!!! After about 10 fruitless trips in the past month and a half, I finally got some fish. Got to the river this morning and saw lots of fish being caught. I shacked up next to some fellas that were nice enough to share the space and landed 2 chum. Hen was 5 lbs and the buck was 9lbs, though he looks bigger (could be the cheap scale). I was floating a pink jig with shrimp at first and couldn't get anything while everyone else was catching. Thought my curse was still going! Some guy tangled up my line and i had to cut it and thats when i switched to a pink jig head with purple feathers, suddenly the fish started biting.
This was my first time catching chum and it was fun as hell. The teeth on the buck cut my fingers up good though, now I know better for next time. Also saw one of the guys catch a pretty big silver that he released. Nice to fish with some other nice fisherman who were willing to share and give me some tips on dragging the fish onto the beach. As we were leaving some guy near the parking lot gave us a stink eye and said that we weren't supposed to be retaining. One of the other anglers told him they were chum not coho and he kept quiet. He looked like he was having a grumpy day. Oh well, still a great way to spend the morning before work! Good luck everyone!
