Spent the day fishing with Luke Hatfield, NWFR Moderator on our Facebook Fishing Group. We also had his son Carter along helping to run the boat. Myself, Gringo Pescador, and Robbie were guests on Luke's boat as we got to chase after some springers on the Willamette, a river I'd never fished before.

Luke ran out 5 rods and we worked from downtown Portland back to the boat launch, and then later in the Multnomah Slough. Inline flashers, cutplugs, spinners, and super baits were all used to no avail. The fishing was in a word - brutal. We saw one fish caught all day.

That said, it was a great day on the water fishing with a new friend. Luke knows his stuff - and it wasn't for lack of trying! I remain springer-less, waiting for my first ever...
